Pizza Hut’s China-wide spread reaches 42%

Pizza Hut’s basket runs from ¥150.00 in Tianjin, Tianjin to ¥213.00 in Foshan, Guangdong. That 42% gap is the biggest location difference here, while its Super Supreme pizza ranges from ¥79.00 to ¥99.00.

KFC keeps a tighter national range

KFC’s basket stretches from ¥83.50 in Linyi, Shandong to ¥101.50 in Qingdao, Shandong, a 22% spread. Its Zinger burger ranges from ¥20.00 to ¥22.50, making KFC the more consistent brand by location.

Tibet tops both brands’ price lists

Tibet has the priciest median basket for both brands: ¥98.00 for KFC and ¥195.00 for Pizza Hut. For KFC, Shandong, Jiangsu and Anhui share the lowest median basket at ¥84.50.

KFC dominates the restaurant count

KFC has 11447 restaurants compared with Pizza Hut’s 3625 across China. Its largest footprint makes KFC the most widely represented brand on this map.

How the index works

Every day we check the menu at every US restaurant of each chain, using the same ordering app its customers use, and record each item's pickup and delivery price. Restaurants are compared on a basket of items that every full-menu restaurant of that brand sells, so a comparison is never skewed by a missing item. Restaurants with a limited menu, and prices that are clearly a menu code error, are left out of comparisons. "Typical" means the median restaurant.
